Acceptable Use Policy

This policy summarizes what you may and may not use TraceCheck for. It complements our Terms of Service and FCRA Notice; if they conflict, the Terms of Service control.

Acceptable purposes

TraceCheck is designed for personal, non-commercial purposes such as:

  • Protecting your personal safety and the safety of people close to you.
  • Verifying unknown callers, texters, or online contacts before you respond.
  • Reconnecting with people you have lost touch with through publicly available records.

Prohibited uses

You may not use TraceCheck, its reports, or any information obtained through the platform:

  • For employment, credit, housing, insurance, tenant screening, or any other decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) — see our FCRA Notice.
  • To stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, dox, or monitor any individual.
  • To search for, compile, or access information about minors (persons under 18 years of age).
  • To resell, redistribute, or misrepresent report contents, or to use them for any unlawful purpose.

Enforcement

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately and without refund upon detecting any prohibited use. We may also report suspected illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.

TraceCheck compiles publicly available information for informational purposes only; results may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. TraceCheck is not a Consumer Reporting Agency and its reports are not "Consumer Reports" under the FCRA. Do not use TraceCheck for employment, credit, tenancy, insurance, or similar eligibility decisions, nor for profiling or automated decision-making. TraceCheck is not intended for use by, or to search for information about, anyone under 18. You may request access, correction, deletion, or opt-out of the sharing of your data via info@tracecheck.com.
